I want to create a new Sonos-system with a play-5 (Gen1) and Sonos S1 App. Wifi is delivered by iPhone personal hotspot.
The installation process as prescribed by the app functions well - except the last step: activate SONOS in the WIFI can be done; but the app does not recognize the success. And in consequence the installation is cancelled.
You’d need to install the Sonos app on a 2nd mobile device; it won’t work on the iPad providing the tethering.
Sorry to tell… but Sonos doesn’t work with Apple iOS hotspots. With Android it works, but the way Apple provides the hotspot is a bit different and seems to block some necessary information.

A Mobile Travel Router (like the GL.iNet Mudi V2) should fix it:
* Connect iPhone via USB to the Router (USB Tethering).
* The Router creates a local WiFi network.
* Connect your iPhone (WiFi) and Sonos to the Router's WiFi.
